So although the start of training camp remains more than two months away, we can start to take a look at who will comprise the Bills’ roster for the upcoming season. Nonetheless, most if not all of Buffalo's 2014 depth chart will be made up of players who were either already on the roster, drafted by the team or signed as a free agent. There could be more veteran releases in store, however, while some of those undrafted rookies, as their signings have not yet been announced by the team, might only be coming to Buffalo on a tryout basis during rookie minicamp. Should all nine of those undrafted free agents sign contracts with the team, the Bills will reach the 90-man roster limit. Tuesday, but the team is also reportedly set to sign former University of Minnesota cornerback Mike Carter (who went undrafted in 2013 and has not played an NFL game), according to Aaron Wilson of The Baltimore Sun. The Buffalo Bills’ official roster stood at 80 players as of 6 a.m. With the 2014 NFL draft now complete and undrafted free agent signings also mostly taken care of, the Buffalo Bills’ 90-man preseason roster is largely set. This is something the O-line will have to learn as the regular season progresses. There's plenty of new talent for head coach Doug Marrone and quarterback EJ Manuel to work with on the Buffalo Bills' 2014 roster. Communication along the offensive line is extremely important, and this does not happen overnight. The biggest concern for this group is the fact that the expected starting five have not played a single snap together. He played the position well enough and will be the backup center/guard. Legursky and Urbik battled for a spot over the final two weeks of preseason after the Bills decided to move Erik Pears inside to guard. There weren't too many surprises along the offensive line with Doug Legursky being the biggest name cut. Starters: Cordy Glenn, Chris Williams, Eric Wood, Erik Pears, Seantrel Hendersonīench: Cyril Richardson, Kraig Urbik, Chris Hairston, Cyrus KouandjioĬut: Jared Wheeler, Antoine McClain, Doug Legursky This opens up a roster spot that now can be used at another position for additional depth. ![]() The other positive with the Orton signing is that the team doesn't necessarily need a third quarterback because of the type of player Orton is. They addressed his absence with the likes of Thad Lewis, Jeff Tuel and Matt Leinart. Last year the team tried to bring in a veteran when it signed Kevin Kolb, but he suffered a concussion in preseason that ended his time with the Bills. ![]() This was the best move the organization could have made and was long overdue. The Bills then decided to bring in a quality veteran quarterback with the signing of Kyle Orton. The team wanted to start fresh and cut the two quarterbacks listed above on Friday and Saturday, as well as Thad Lewis and Dennis Dixon earlier this week. The coaches were not happy with the quarterback position this preseason, specifically the backup quarterbacks on the roster. ![]()
